mwob’s Most Anticipated Games Of 2011

No BS… let’s get straight into this. 2011 looks to be an awesome year for gaming with some cool titles set for release. Waiting for these darn games just adds to the excitement, maybe at times making our expectations to high. But you know what… we pay good money. We want high end games that break the barrier.

So here it is. mwob’s list of 5 games we’re waiting for in 2011. An trust us, these will kick ass!

Batman: Arkham City

Well you comic fans out there will be drooling at the sight of this. Batman: Arkham City the sequel to Arkham Ayslum just looks like the superhero fans ultimate fantasy. Our very own Kmwob may need to be sent to Arkham Ayslum if he can’t cope with the excitement.

So when should we expect this. According to the developers Rocksteady Games, we’re looking at fall 2011 for the Xbox, PS3 and PC. With a new story, better gadgets and Batman getting rather mysterious and dark we expect this game to deliver on many fronts. Bring it!

Metal Gear Solid: Rising

The Metal Gear series continues with it’s latest addition ‘Rising’. The developers say that unlike the other Metal Gears this one will focus more on the action and sword fighting rather than the usual stealth role, but still allowing the player to have a sense of freedom to choose whether they kill with stealth or close combat. Nice.

The game is set between Metal Gear 2: Sons of Liberty and Metal Gear 4: Guns of the Patriots, focussing on the character Raiden. Release date is still TBA but expect some crisp detailed graphics, eye watering cut scenes and some stealthy brutal action.

Brink

Something different. Or so we hope.  A first person shooter from Splash Damage and their first original development.  Based in The Ark; a floating city with two sides, the ‘Resistance’ and ‘Security’ who battle it out with the choice of story mode and multiplayer with up to 8 players in co-op style.

It features Splash Damage’s Smooth Movement Across Random Terrain (SMART) technology. This allows the player to move their character around the complex landscape with freedom of movement, similar to that of parkour, or as better know free running. If they get this right it could be interesting.

The release has already been pushed back twice, so let’s hope (Spring 2011 release) that third time lucky is a true saying.

Gears of War

All Gears of War fans wait patiently. April 8th 2011 is the date set for European release for the conclusion to the Gears of War saga. Expect to experience feelings of hope, brotherhood and adrenaline fuelled survival. Developed by Epic Games as an exclusive for the Xbox, you play as the brutus Marcus Felix. Fight to save the human race from a new threat infecting the planet while the war with the Locust continues.

Will you be a hero or cower like the wimp you are, letting your fellow comrades suffer? Prepare for some hardcore muscle bound sci-fi action. Hold tight, Gears of War 3 will file the empty hole.

Rage

Ok so it may be another apocalyptic theme to add to the many released in history, but we’re expecting big things from Rage. From the people that brought you Doom and Quake comes their new shooter Rage. It’s looks as though id Software are on their way to creating another classic. At this years E3, Rage went on to win numerous awards and accolades. It blew the socks off most attendees, literally.

With a variety of enemies and stunning graphics it offers more than just your average first person shooter theme. Keep your eyes peeled on this one. As we said, expect big things.
